ESSC Test Laboratory now has the world’s largest vertical thermal shock chamber which is 144 cu. ft. and is rated to hold up to 600 lbs with a transfer rate of 12 seconds.

This chamber was initially used to test head curtain air bags up to 8’ long. Other products are also tested in the large thermal shock chamber such as hybrid batteries weighing up to 150 lbs. and 3-4’ long with basket dimensions of 4’ x 4’ x 8’. This also allows the laboratory to test multiple products at one time increasing throughput and minimizing test time.
